Green Adventure Week 9. - 15. of July 2010
This is a special made ecological package. A green week including rafting, trekking, canyoning, canoeing, summit walk and rappelling all of which we explore thoroughly on our green week.
During this exciting and varied week we will cross all of Skjåk, without using motorized vehicles. Starting at Sota in the west and ending up in Lom in the east. The trip lasts for one week and will give the guests the possibility to discover the magnificent nature, the culture and the people.
The scenery is a mix of towering peaks, crystal-clear rivers running down from the National Park, green mountain lakes, forests and glacier-made valleys. The guides will be there the whole week guiding you through exciting activities like mountaineering to the summit of Tverrådalskyrkja (2088 m), trekking, canoeing on mountain lakes and on rivers, rafting three different rivers and rappelling and canyoning.
The accommodation will be in lavvo, traditional mud/stone hut, mountain cottage/hotel and camping hut We can offer a wide specter of food from traditional local food in Sota hotel, to homemade cooking over the open camp fire.
Day 1
Activities: Arrival to Skjåk and lodging.We stay at the beautiful and historical place of Sota. More than 100 years old, it originally was a working seter, or summer dairy, and now consists of ten buildings around a courtyard, with a warm, sheltered ambience.
In Sota you will get excellent local food. A perfect place for start your Norwegian adventure

Day 2
Activities: Mountaineering.Trip to Tverrådalskyrkja. We hike to the summit of Tverrådalskyrkja (2088 m), with the most beautiful view of the National Park. Fantastic mountaineering in beautiful landscape.
During the day you will meet green luxuriant valleys, rocky valleys, high mountains and glaciers. Expected duration: 8-9 hours

Day 3
Activities: Canoeing and trekkingWe start the day in Sota, walking the few hundred meters down to the lake Liavatnet. We spend half the day canoeing on the marvelous green mountain lake looking at the breathtaking mountains and the luxuriant valley.
In the end of the lake we leave the canoes and we walk for some kilometers to our camp for the night, a historic place called Påleplassen on the riverbank.

Day 4
Activities: Trekking, rafting and river canoeingWaking up for a big day! After eating breakfast around the camp fire, we start the day walking down the valley to the starting point for the rafting section. After changing into wetsuits and fully equipped with safety jacket and helmets, we start the rafting with a safety talk and some training on the lake of Bråtåvatnet. We raft down the river Ostri all the way down to Dønfoss.
In the fantastic place Dønfoss we will eat our wilderness lunch right beside the big and beautiful waterfall. After lunch it is time to go canoeing on the river. The trip starts just after the waterfall, and will end up in Ofossen, our camp for the night.
The camp is situated next to an old mill and right beside the river. It can hardly be better than this: Wonderfully tired from the activities, sitting around the camp fire with the sound of the waterfall, speaking of the day and dreaming of tomorrow.

Day 5
Activities: Rafting, canyoning and rappellingWe start the day with a nice hike into Lundadalen, where we can be lucky to see some moose. From the Lundadalen we raft down some nice rapids on the rivers Skjøli and Otta. After the last rapid we leave the rafts and starts the walk to the canyon.
We walk up the historical way beside Aura, this was the old centre of Skjåk. The place has a very rich story to tell, and your guide will give you all the details! On the top of the canyon we will eat a wilderness lunch while looking at the nice view of the valley and the canyon.
After lunch we start the nearly 50 meters long rappel for enter in the canyon. (It is also possible to enter in the canyon without the rappel, so don`t let this stop you) Well into the canyon we head down the river with jumping of cliffs, swimming into witches pots, sliding down the natural water slides, swimming under waterfalls. This is a natural aqua park with lots of fun, challenges and all the time surrounded by an outstanding nature.
After finishing the canyon we walk the short distance back to the night’s camp, a traditional mud and stone house, situated right beside the river. In the camp you will also have a big camp fire, a hot water tub and showers and toilets.

Day 6
Activities: Rafting and river/lake canoeingThis day will start with rafting, starting up just beside the camp. Today you will guide your own rafts – a new challenge! You will of course have guides following the trip, but they have their kayaks, just taking care of the safety. You will be in charge of guiding and paddling the rafts down the river.
Where the river runs quieter, we change from rafts to canoes. The rivers flows into a lake, and on the bank of the lake we will eat our lunch looking up on the 2000 meter high mountains that are surrounding the valley.
The trip ends in Lom where we will spend the night in high standard cabins. Possibilities for an afternoon discovery of the small village of Lom. A well known place where you will find old Norwegian culture and spectacular nature.
